    Removing 870 Stock

    Hey guys,

I'm in the process of removing my Remington 870 Express's stock and forend and replacing it with walnut furniture.

Removing the forend was not a problem at all. However, removing the stock is quite difficult as it seems to be stuck in place. It is a definite PITA to remove the bolt connecting the stock to the gun. How did you guys do it? I tried spraying the bolt head with WD40, even the seam where the stock meets the gun, to no avail.

I don't even want to think about rounding off the bolt head due to my intense efforts!

Wrap something around the handle of your tool to get a better grip. Thats what I do when I remove the stock from my Mossberg 500.

Lefty loosey righty tighty. Clamp on an adj. vise grip plier around an old screw driver for addition torque.
