So I just purchased a used by-99 for trap purposes and noticed that the lock up is very loose. When you move the level to open it, it takes little effort to open and almost falls after a certain point. The guns shoots well but I am wondering if I can do anything to tighten this up? What is the negative to having a loose lockup?

Check with Midwest gun works, they can tighten the action and do any other repairs the gun may need.
Tightening the action should be around $250 or so..."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"
