Remington Gun Smith Los Angeles

You should first give it a good cleaning making sure there is no junk behind the shell latches. Last guy that had this is took this advise and found bits of a cleaning patch behind the shell latch cause the feed issue. Get a can of parts and break cleaner from your local auto parts store. Put the straw in the nozzle and blast out behind the shell latches. Clean you chamber and polish it and don't put any chemicals in the chamber or bore. Clean it dry.
Also check the timing cuts on the action bars as these work the shell latches. They need to be sharp and not chipped or rounded off.
If these things don't resolve the issues then look for a gun smith.Last edited by aippi; 07-26-2015, 12:50 PM.JD McGuire, Owner

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go. -
As always, good sound advice from AIPPI. Now if you still cannot get it to feed reliably, give serious consideration to sending it off to AIPPI and ask him to work his magic. Shipping a long gun is an easy, no hassle proposition. You can ship it directly from your local Post Office, and get it returned to your door.
AIPPI has worked on two of my 870’s, and I could not be more pleased. Even with shipping and insurance included, the cost is more than fair. Turn around time, less than two weeks. Check out his web site, you may just decide to have him refinish and/or replace anything not up to factory specs. It certainly cannot hurt to have a pro look over an older 870.
If you do decide to ship it for service, take the stock and forearm off. Much cheaper and easier to ship in a shorter package.

No need to ship a gun out of the LA area. Bob Day at Anerichoke can fix it for you.

I finally was able to do a test after performing recommended cleaning procedures. My 870 now seams to perform flawlessly again with no malfunctions. I’ll be testing again this coming weekend at an upcoming run & gun event.
I want to thank -

I called initially and left a message. The owner(I didn't ask permission to use his name) returned my call in a timely manor and spent several minutes with me on the phone walking me though a basic maintenance procedure he felt would solve the problem. It worked well. He even offered to set me up with a live video link if his suggestions didn’t help. Great customer service BUT I’m not even a customer.
Thank you Aiptactical. I plan to purchase a second 870 in the future when my funds are more stable.CGN Contributor - LifetimeComment
