    good to go

My buddies recently took me out trap shooting and even though I didn't hit anything, and I still loved it. So I went out and got myself a rav1 trap thrower and got busy shooting on my own. I'm loving it even more now that I am making those clay pigeons break in mid flight.
I have a Mossberg 500 and I consider its time to upgrade. After long consideration here is my plan. First I'm upgrading to a benelli supernova. Then a beretta A400 for sporting. Then a proper O/U for hunting.
I'm moving to Mariposa and I'm excited to hear about the big plans to build a world class shotgun range in Merced. It's seems to be set up as the training site for the Olympic shooting team.
I read a post asking the whereabouts of the new young members. At 39, I consider myself kind of young and I'm new to the game. I appreciate this forum and I look forward to learning more from you guys as I come along. I'll remember you guys and give you credit if I ever make it to the Olympics.

I would like to hear more of this World Class shotgun range in Merced.

Other than that, welcome to the insane asylum.

        Wow!

That looks awesome if they can pull it off.

          My opinion:
Get your current shotgun fit to you. If the person fitting the shotgun says you need to buy something else, buy something else.
If the person fitting your shotgun was able to fit it to you with no compromises, use that shotgun.

If you're serious about this, you'll probably end up with a different shotgun for trap than you'll be using for sporting. Instead of buying a bunch of shotguns at the get go as 'upgrades' to your current shotgun, spend that money on clays and shells.

Use whatever shotgun you want for hunting, but realize that unless you're hunting a club and/or have a gun handler, you're going to be putting that shotgun on the ground, leaning it against trees, perhaps even dropping it. If you're duck hunting you'll be banging it against the sides of your blind, concrete pit, and generally getting it soaked and muddy.

            ><

Welcome to the game .....a couple of thing you can do with the trower to improve your skills is to place the thower as far left or right of you as you can. Place the thower as far in front of you as you can and angle it left or right
Set up the thower to throw clays that cross your shooting area.

Break out some of the tops of the clays and stager them within the thowers magazine

            Have fun

Huh, that's the first I've heard of that, and I'm an active trapshooter who lives about five miles away. They also mention that they'd had some fund raising at Castle, which I've never heard of either, and I've been working there for 18 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

Many of my Mariposa friends shoot down in Newman. Go talk to Steve at Mariposa Gun Works.

I don't do skeet, just trap. I have an excellent 11-87 Sporting Clays. Having a semi-auto, it barely recoils at all. So shooting 100 12 ga rounds doesn't give me a headache or shoulder ache. Much more comfortable than a Mossy 500, which I also have.

I have a Beretta A300 Outlander that I hunt with, and shoot clays with too. For half the price of an A400 it's the best deal out there.

Remember an o/u has two barrels and only 2 shots. For hunting I would suggest something lighter and with 3 shots.
