    Wingmaster stock transplant candidate

So I decided to look for a nice wood stock for my 28" 870 because I was getting a lot of funny looks with it having all black magpul furniture and mag extension at the skeet and trap ranges. I find it very fun to shoot and I cant quite get the perfect fit using the magpul stock adjustment options. The idea was to trade my synthetic stock for a wood one which I did and came to realize how ugly rem express laminate wood stock is. The person that traded it to me said that he up graded his 870 with a wingmaster stock he found for cheap somewhere and that it was of better quality. At this point the plan was to find a good deal on a wingmaster stock and here is what I found. It was under $50 shipped. I found some before that were better looking with much more depth and figuring in the $140+ range but for the price I couldnt pass it up.

I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me more about this stock. How old is it, is it special in anyway, do I need that metal plate thing to mount it correctly, is it worth the $50 I payed for it, will it even mount to my 870 express (havent tried yet) etc.

If its not somehow special the plan is to get it fitted with adjustable comb and butt plate.

Here are some pics, TIA for your time and replies.

I've been researching 870's lately and I believe the Wingmaster is just a high end 870. The stock is higher quality wood with a better finish. The action and barrel is fully polished to remove all tooling marks. From my knowledge all 870's are structurally the same. So it should bolt on without issue.

I can't really tell how much drop the stock has compared to a standard wingmaster. I am wondering if it came off a trap gun. It is a nice looking stock.

All 12ga 870's are the same so yes it fits. Yes, you must have the metal stock bearing plate or the stock will be damage. The plate holds the stock off the receiver just a hair or two so that the recoil will not damage the stock. Those wood stocks you see on 870 that are chipped right at the receiver are that way because there was not stock bearing plate installed.
