Is there a difference in performance between standard and extended choke tubes?

Or is it just for easier install and removal?

AFAIK, the extended tubes are for convenience only. Very handy when shooting sporting clays, because you are changing chokes frequently.

Some extended choke tubes may extend the length of the choke taper over a longer distance, leading to more consistent patterns.
