    Benelli M3

I am thinking about getting a Benelli M3 for father's day. Currently I don't own a shotgun so I thought it a good feature where you have both options semiauto or pump action. I was planning on using this as my secondary HD behind my Glock 19. Wanted to get some thoughts about this shotgun.

It's a nice gun for sure. It's not my cup of tea. M4 (got one) or M2 would be my first choice. But that's totally a personal thing. Can't imagine you would be disappointed with any of these guns. If the M3 speaks to you...get it!

      ^^^ yeah that.

The M2 will be a little cheaper and field barrels are available for more versatility.

Really- the M3 in pump mode is designed for shooting ultra low-recoiling rounds such as smoke flares, non-lethal projectiles, and gas grenades. Something most people never need.

I bought mine in the late 90s as a fun gun and use it for everything from shattering hand thrown clays to tearing sheit up with buck and slugs to HD. It's a fine shotgun. The M3 ghost loaded with 9 rounds of reduced recoil 00 buck will make for a formidable secondary HD weapon. The auto/pump feature doesn't really add much for an HD situation but if it appeals to you and you have the extra coin go for it.
