    hunting shotgun

school me up on how one hunts with a shotgun all my experience is tactical use. (save the by shooting it type remarks)

i was probably going to finally get a mossberg 500 or 590 (after i procrastinate for a while longer) So if i were at some time in the future after doing all appropriate paperwork and licences want to go hunting what would i use and why? from what i understand the barrels are interchangeable so would i slap on a rifles barrel and use slugs? im guessing by the name buckshot was intended for deer and like sized game is this what it was intended for. what is the preferred zero method and what ranges should i consider as viable for kill shots. if i even go i was planning to go for boar possibly deer or other like sized game.

Start by taking a hunters safety class, many of your questions will be answered there. You have to take that class and get a certificate before you can get a hunting license too.

i wasnt planning to go anytime soon i was just wondering what hardware would leave me with the most options, 99% of the time it would be my HD gun with the off 1% chance of me getting into something else.

u just missed a killer deal at bass pro shop ontario.

297 out the door for a stoeger 350 pump shotgun 3.5" chamber max 4 HD camo. with a 4 piece choke set

a shotgun is the most dynamic tool you can use for hunting. you can almost hunt anything with it, with different loads.

deer (hence buck shot), turkey, boar, coyote, you name it.

you can tag stuff out as far as 200 yards with rifled slugs too. and with chokes you can have extra no fly zone capabilities.

if im going somewhere were i have multiple tags/licenses to hunt animals in that area, i will always pack a shotty with a variety of shells.

hell, i was in julian hunting turkey/quail/dove, and there so much water out there i saw mallards too. oh and deer and coyotes. talk about multitasking.

-as for shotguns, id get a benelli nova. cheap, and can do everything, well. oh and comes camo, which you will want if you get serious about hunting.
