If by "best", you mean "cheap", I'd go with the white-box Winchester Super-X from wal-mart. More ammo is always better than less ammo

consistancy is mainly what i'm looking for, i'd rather spend a little more and know i got a better product. i'm not looking to stock up on slugs, i'll probably only need a box or two.

Consistency? Can you be more vague? Consistent what? Consistent price? Shot weight? FPS? Accuracy? Ignition? Wadding? Shot pattern?

WHAT ARE YOU USING IT FOR? Hunting? Target shooting? Home defense? Plinking?

home defense, i want to make sure the shots are going to be fairly accurate. i don't like the idea of spraying shot everywhere indoors.i currently only have 8 shot right now and i want to get something thats not going to put holes everywhere if i had to use the gun in my house.

8 Shot would put less holes in your home than a slug would. The birdshot may penetrate a complete wall, but lose all energy upon doing so. A slug will punch a huge hole, and then some.

+1 on the Truball, very accurate and powerful. I ordered a case of these not too long ago.

#1 Buck is a much better choice, those slugs will go through the intruder, the wall and into a neighbor.

for home distances, most slugs are going to group about the same. it's the accuracy, out to 20-30 yd that makes truball slugs a big advantage.

slugs inside a house doesn't sound like a good idea, because that slug will go through a lot of things/people and then some. I use #4 buckshot (most familiar with) and will soon be moving to #1. I think slugs are better for long range shooting and hunting (then again i'm no hunter).

if you are more worried about putting holes in your house than the bloody invaders in shock bleeding to death on the floor. Get an alarm. Other wise, stick with #4 or #1 buckshot for less penetration. A tub of Spackle is like $6 dollars. Slugs will be fine if you don't have houses within 100 yards of whichever way you point your finger. You get a crap load of surface area with #4 buckshot. Its been tested on game, and people, #4 buck can reach the vitals of a human easily at 25 yards. Imagine it at 10 feet.

thanks for the input, i'll have to look into that #4 buck, i have houses about 30 yrds from me on either side, i didn't think that slugs would go that far, or through the intruder, wall, and neighbors wall.

just remember most reliable man stoppers will penetrate through walls. unless you go the frangible route,

here are some frangible slugs i found. they are designed for breeching though.
