    A300 question

I just bought a new Beretta A300. From what I have read, it is lighter than what many prefer for trap shooting. I found a variable weight forend cap that is made for the A300. I'm curious if anyone out there has any experience with this aftermarket item and what you think of it.

Hi Goater, have you tried to shoot trap with the gun as is?
The reason I'm asking is I was using the same gun for trap and loved it.

I have a400 with kick off stock and put a briley weighted cap on it. My suggestion is to put a limbsaver recoil pad on there, shoot and see how it is. If you're not happy, you can try a weighted cap. You can also try some weight in the stock to keep it balance. The trick is to get it balanced and not too heavy.

Maybe I submitted this post too soon ... I just bought the gun today and it will be 10 days before I get it.

I will shoot it first before I buy anything but my curiosity was aroused, knowing that many think that guns weighing in the low 7's can be problematic for trap.

The weight would not be to reduce recoil but to help with swinging so the barrel doesn't wave ... although I haven't shot it yet so I don't know what swing problems there might be.

I was just hoping to get feedback from someone who has installed one of these caps ... just to collect feedback in advance.

        Thanks for the current responses

I have an A300 Camo. Best value out there today, and at less than half the price of an A400 it's a bargain.

There's not a lot of gun movement in Trap. I'd shoot it as is for a while, then decide on extra weight. Now, if you want to shoot Sporting, 5-Stand or even Skeet, the extra weight may help smooth out your swing... YMMV...
