    Question about 12g rifled slugs

I went to Wal Mart and purchased a box of Federal rifled-slugs for my 870 this weekend. After I walked out of the store I stopped and thought to myself: "Can I even fire these rifled-slugs with a stock 18" barrel?"

    Can I?

Yes. They'll work just fine. About the only slug don'ts are:

Don't use slugs in a full choke (or tighter).

Don't use sabot slugs in a smoothbore barrel. It'll work, but not well.

Rifled slugs work fine in my 18" smoothbore.

Alright, thanks, guys. I just reread the box and it said it's meant for smoothbore shotguns. :P

sabot slugs fly better than well! at least, though mine -YMMV-

some Smoothbores can shoot em just as good as a rifled slug
