Was Guy at Turners Jerkin my Chain?

I was at Turners trying to find 20 gauge buckshot which is hard to find. The guys behind the counter said they sometimes have it. They said to talk to the ammunition guy who is responsible for ammo orders.

Ammo guy tells me (in that gunstore, elitist tone)... "No way. Can't get it. No distributors carry it." I responded by asking what about special orders, like by the case, whatever, he said no. He said "Try a gun show" and dismissed me.

Now before this encounter (on another day) I had originally talked to the manager of the store and asked him about ammo he didn't carry and he said he could pretty much order anything and that it would just be special order.

When I told this to the guy he said 20 gauge buck was just not available at his distributors.

So my question is this... in your opinion (since nobody knows for sure).

Was he lying to me just because he was lazy and didn't want to order it?

    or

Was he telling the truth that 20 gauge buck isn't carried by his distributor?

Sounds more like he was lazy and didnt want to be bothered. This is what really triggers my button. Someone comes in and wants something . I woudl make damn sure he will get it if he is willing to pay for it. A happy customer IMO is better than any advertising money can buy. There is a reason i rarely go to gun stores and the ones I do go to are the ones that know how to treat a customer

I do feel like the guy was jacking you around. I would talk to the manager, or try some of the mail order catalogs like Bass pro shops, Cheaper than dirt, Sportsman guide, etc.

            20 gauge buckshot and slugs.

            Avoid Turners when ever possible.

Depending on where your located, I've bought some from Ammo Bros. at a gun show so you might want to try their store front to see if they have any.

It is hard to find buck shot for a 20guage. I have not found any at the local stores. I did pick up some #2 shot at a gun show that was very old.

I know there was a bunch ON SALE at the Agoura Target Range last week. I haven't been there for a few days but, I bet it's still there. I've never hard a hard time finding it (I've never wanted it though), you just gotta know where to look. I have even have found .410 00 and slug for $1/box at Wal-Mart a couple years ago. Yes, I did buy all they had!

You never know what has gone on at corp. hq. It might be their new policy.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

ooops...I just realized what the guy at Turners meant...

Buckshoot for 20Gauge is usually for the magnum loads only (3" shells)

I saw 5 or 6 different types of 20ga @ Ammo Bros earlier today.
