Benelli M3 super 90 parts

I was just given an unfired M3 that is going to be used as a home defense shotgun, as such will only be taken out to the range 1-2 times a year for some practice and will always loaded with shells ready to go. It also has the 2 shot extension tube so the capacity is 7+1.

My question is since the M3 is not a huge seller and run the risk of it being discontinued, what parts should I load up for it? What are the common wearable parts that will need to be replaced? With the magazine spring being under constant tension should I buy an extra spring to keep around? What other parts would you recommend?

What fatigues a spring is the repetitive compress/expand cycles. Leaving it loaded won't hurt a quality spring but that being said and if need be 12G magazine springs are a common part and easily interchanged among brands.

I would look into getting an extra firing pin and firing pin spring. Beyond that any part has the potential for failure but you obviously can't buy replacements for everything.

I'd be surprised if the M3 has a bunch of unique parts (different from M1/M2), outside of the pump/semi mechanism specific stuff. You can check Numrich or MGW (and Midway/Brownells) to see what they carry for specific parts for the pump/semi stuff.

I have a many thousands of rounds through my m1 and other than replacing the magazine spring because of a change in magazine capacity, I have yet to wear any parts out. I'm sure a recoil spring is in order soon but for you, an couple outings a year, the m3 should last you several lifetimes.

Thanks guys, i will buy as pare parts just in case a firing pin, firing pin spring, and recoil spring just in case. I like keeping spare parts for my guns just in case.

Another barrel; not because of the barrel itself, but the ring wears out because of the pump action.

Recoil springs are unique to this model only. buy at least one.

Don't know how old you are, but assuming you shoot the gun for 30 years, 100 rounds per outing, you're talking 3000-6000 rounds. Wouldn't sweat the extra parts thing.
