Hit the button too soon. This is a brand new gun, the response he got was "faulty firing pin". Important reminder for gun safety.

I just saw a post about a Mosberg doing the same thing.

The first Mossbergs did that but they were recalled and the issue resolved. A free floating firing pin that was to long is the cause. and a super weak firing pin retracting spring was the cause.

If you look at the breech bolt of say your 870 you will see the firing pin is recessed in the face of the breech bolt. If you push the back of the firing pin forward it will still not come out of the face of the breech bolt. Same on the 500 but it may protrude slightly but not enough to strike a primer. It takes the force of the hammer striking the firing pin and sending it forward with enough force to strike the primer to fire these weapons. This guy got a faulty gun period.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

          Thank-you for the safety reminder!

Reminders like this are good for keeping oneself out of complacency.

Looks like some quality control issues. Wow sad to see this.
