laser on shotgun?

I only know of one person who uses one on his shotgun. but he has never shot it. I personally would not use one but its your gun, do what you want!Originally posted by 252yft

They sell a laser for shotguns that reflects the spread of buckshot. I think it projects 8 dots in a circular pattern and it expands at the same rate that buckshot does, so you can see how you're going to pattern over distance.

You can point at stuff right? Then you don't need a laser.
For use with slugs? I can't imagine why. What range at you looking at shooting? Seems like rifle or ghost ring sights would be lighter and catch on less crap. Seems like a consistent mount and a bead front sight would be lighter and less catchy still if you are dealing with stuff relatively close up.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

My dad has a pistol grip on his with a laser light. It actually works really well. I suggest get it but also get a pistol gripComment

If it works for you sure.
But if your shooting at the range next to me expect to be judged lol
I just use my flashlight. The flood of my light is almost exactly where my shot patterns. After 20 yards my floor is much bigger. but it's an easy aim assist for me. Also has a focused light center point which I guess could be used for slugs. But after 10 yards it's pushing it. So maybe a light is a more useful option.
I don't rely on just my light, but know if I had to it could be a decent aim print if I can't use my sights.Comment

I think the Laserlyte isn't a bad option if you're going to be running and gunning in CQB situations. However, you mentioned slug shooting and I'm going to assume the distance will be pretty extended, making the laser hard to see.
For slug shooting, you should consider a rifle styled sights (eg. Ghost rings) or a red dot like the Burris Speed Bead. They have a mount for your Remington 870.
When I shoot slugs, I use both the front and mid bead of my Benelli Supersport and that works pretty well. It is not super accurate but good enough when shooting one of those Zombie targets from Zombie Industries at around 50 yards.Comment

interesting, great comments, thanks y'all.
I think for $50 I might give this cheap one a run before stepping up to $300+ for the LaserLyte.Comment
