    Browning lightning reassembly

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1427444616.147169.jpg

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I can get everything reassembled and flush with the action open but when I close barrels you get this gap.

You re-assemble by putting the barrels and receiver together first, shut the action, then put the forend on to barrels and lock the forend lever.

I saw a few videos that show that. However I can't figure out how to do that. My fore end doesn't seem to come off, only slides back and forth.

I forgot to mention that this is an older Belgium made Browning Lightning probably about 30 years old (?) I've put it back together before without removing the foreend. I just don't understand how I slip the pieces together at the hinge and the fore end won't slide in when it closes.

The barrels & receiver are fine.

Now slide the forearm towards the muzzle so that little flat piece that is point to the butt pad can move up and line up with the slot in the receiver.

Slide towards the butt and then push the forearm lock back into place.

        Make sense ?

It all lines up. I get the flat tab inserted and the fore end won't go any further back into the receiver. Still leaves the gap

You lined something up wrong. See that right piece of metal hanging off the receiver? That needs to sit flush. Line that up, push the fore end back, and then the long piece of metal will snap into place

Got it. Makes sense when you actually have a decent night's sleep.
