    Need help/advice..potential problem with 1st o/u 12ga.

So I bought my 1st o/u 12ga from Turners picked it up on Friday. Mind you its part of a 3 gun deal took home a colt XSE and marlin 22 same day.

Ok i assemble the escort and the top lever (to break barrels) doesnt center itself and stays slanted to the right after closing? I'm thinking weird but again its my 1st o/u.
I dont know it this is normal and i don't think it is. I have a Stoeger coach gun in 12ga. and it centers perfectly.
So I called turners and spoke to the manager I sent him the same pic here. I spoke to him at 6:00pm he quickly said its Friday really busy will be about 15 mins before i can respond. I say ok no problem and thank him for help....he responds at 10:12 pm stating "Sorry very busy. Our Display looks about the same. I think it's biased for R handed shooters. If it locks well, it's safe."

I respond "ok not sure if that was normal like I said 1st shotgun."

What do you guys think? please look at pic. I don't remember the display being anything like what I have. I it is a defect should I go through Escort or return it to the store?
No Turners crapping please not trying to vent looking for legitimate advice on how to resolve issue if I have one. And for the most part they've done great by me.

From what I know, it is supposed to be off to the right like that. If it is down the center it means it's time for a gun rebuild. My new 686 looks just like your picture.

Perfectly normal. When it's in the center it's time to take it to a gunsmith.

Generally speaking a new o/u or sxs will start out life with the lever slightly to the right of center when closed and in firing position. Over time and after a lot of shooting, the lever will start to slowly move to the left, towards the center, when closed and in firing position. If it locks up tight-no concern.

Though slightly right biased is "normal", that's pretty exaggerated IMHO.

That's about where it is on my FN SC1, a little more to the right than my CZ (just traded it away) and a bit more than my Browning is. The Browning is 21 years old...

Yep, a little to the right is a good thing.

I don't own an o/u, but want to. I have seen several guns like that, but figured it was "normal," as the guns all felt like they locked up tight. Trying to push the lever towards the center didn't help, but I didn't use much force either since I really didn't want to break a $2000-ish gun....

Since someone mentioned it, what does a rebuild entail? And how much is something like that? I suppose it's a bit of a moot question since I don't have an o/u anyways and it would be a loooong time before it's even necessary if I did.

What it entails and costs will depend on the maker and the type of action involved. Does it have an under-lug, a conical lug...boss action? Is it made by Beretta, Browning, CG....Krieghoff?

No one can tell you the answer to your question, because it will vary greatly
