    Shortening a shotgun barrel.

Is it possible to shorten a shot gun barrel and have its screw in chokes re installed? If you can is there anyone who can do it in the south bay?

yes, it can be done, depending on the specific barrel and the thickness of hte barrel at that specific length. And you may have to go to a different brand of choke, some have a smaller diameter that can be installed into thinner barrels.

I don't know of any specific gunsmiths in your area.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

what i would like to know is if anybody shortens barrels and threads them for a choke and then puts choke threads on the cut section

huh, you want to thread the shortened barrel and the cut-off section edit: nevermind, I see what you mean, you want the cut-off section turned into a sort of barrel extension.

But, as I mentioned above, yes, you can have a shortened barrel threaded for a choke if there is enough barrel thickness so that the choke threads can be safely cut.

M24armorer can do the job, or you could send it to someone like Tornado Technologies, http://www.tornado-technologies.com/services.html .

oops, maybe not Tornado, it appears that they removed their screw-in choke installation services from the list.

yea mossberg ought to do they imagine the money they would save if they only had to give one 18 inch barrel one choke and a 10 inch extention

          instead of 2 barrels

and imagine if they put a choke thread on that extention end too so people could keep adding barrel sections till the gun is quiet or 20 foot long

Just curious, but why not just buy a shorter barrel?

              Is it a rare weapon..?

I'd maybe just buy a new gun, work will maybe cost a good bit more than what an Escort is worth.

You'd be better off spending $250 or so on an Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" barrel.
