Remington Spartan O/U...

I noticed that Big 5 has them on sale for $469 and I am thinking about getting one.

What do you guys think? Is that a pretty fair deal? I've never really priced them before so I wanted to pick some brains first.

I bought my daughter one in 20 gauge. Took her for a couple of rounds of trap 2 or 3 years ago. I, yes I have Dove, Quail, and Pheasant hunted with it the last 2 seasons. I love it! They shoulder sweet, the finish is good but not so good you keep it out of the field. I highly recommend you try one you won't be dissapointed.

...not that it would matter, I guess. I'd have a hard time believing that someone could "wear it out".

I have one. Good price for an O/U. Definitely replace the chokes. The ones it comes with are crap. I bought Trulocks, and they're great. Finish is okay. First thing you need to do when getting it home is take it all apart and clean out the metal shavings from inside the receiver. Also, I would recommend cutting a few coils off the cocking plunger mainsprings. It'll make it a lot easier to close the action back up.

I'm looking for a good Trap/skeet gun and I've always had a fondness for O/Us (but never got around to buying one). I toyed around with the idea of a Ruger Red Label and such, but this looks like a good deal and I love my Wingmaster, so I'm a Remington fan, as well.

That's a great price for a new Spartan (same as the Baikal IZH27), and Bud's has a good reputation. I'd definitely buy one if I found it locally for that price.

They've got a good reputation for their price range - a search over at www.shotgunworld.com will provide plenty of reading.
