Here's mine ! Hamilton 27 , BRASS 15" barrel ,weighs about 1.5 pounds. NO, it is NOT an illegal SBR .
Not to shabby for $40.00 !!

I really love to collect old guns!

Nice. A late 30's-early 40's Remington is my oldest one.

If it has a barrel <16", it IS an SBR per both CA and federal law. It just happens to be an SBR that has been removed from the NFA, so it is legal federally, and is also exempt from CA's SBR law.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

just wanted it to be clear what it was.

That said, it is a cool gun. I've got a couple of my father's old .22's that are from the turn of the century. I think one was 1903 and the other was pre-1900. Both of them put plenty of food on the table when my dad was a child.

I'll play! I have several .22's around 100 years old but this one is my favorite for a couple of reasons.

This gun was given to me by my uncle about 8 years ago. When he brought it in it was wrapped in newspapers dated 1973. He is about 85 now and the rifle was purchased (used) for him by his uncle when he was 12 years old. Along with this rifle he also brought the 30-40 Krag that his uncle carried at the turn of the century. My uncle explained that when he moved from Chicago to Tennesse in '73 he wrapped the rifles up in newspaper for the move and forgot all about them. He'd just found them in his attic before delivering them to me.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I used to have one of those little Hamilton's, mine had the brass barrel liner. The old timers used to tell me that they cut them down into pistols for use in killing hogs on the farm. Probably why a lot of them didn't survive intact. Here's some good reading if you haven't seen it yet:

Here's my favorite shooter, just passed the 100 year mark a couple of years ago. It's a 1906 Winchester "boys rifle" pump. It's amazing how accurate these little rifles are:

You know that is worth like $250-$300, right? Most of the Hamilton's you see are rusted out hulks, not really nice pieces like yours.

I've always loved the No.27, a very unique and simple design. They used to have this in the huge chicken feed bags. You had a one in 10 chance of getting a Hamilton in the bottom if you bought one of the bags.

Edit: There was a guy over at Weaponsguild making a new Hamilton No.27 actually, out of brass with steel parts in the crucial areas for strength. In June he just disappeared though.
