    Marlin 56

This is my first post ever.

This was my Grandmother's and she passed it to my Mother and it became mine when she passed. I don't know much about it but it brings me joy to own it. It was used to hunt small game for food. Apparently my Grandmother loved rabbit! I just dropped it off for a full cleaning and stock refinish. I'm looking for a vintage Marlin scope.

I have a vintage Marlin scope you can have. It's a 4x I believe. Condition is not bad, IIRC. It came off a Marlin 60 with Squirrel.

      PM me.

The Marlin Levermatic rifles with the short throw are fun to shoot! I have a Sears version of the same rifle and it is very accurate. The only issue I have is the small magazine round number.

        Thanks for posting OP.

That vintage scope offer from Orangeusa is very kind. I prefer my older Marlin 22s with the vintage scopes.

Oops, mine says Glenfield on it. But it's yours if you want it.

Awesome story! It would be super special if you have a daughter to share with and hand down.

You got a real winner there in my opinion.

It might not be the most popular lever action or the lever action they made the most of but that super short throw of around 2 inches of the levermatic type action levers really seem to be the zenith of lever action designs to me.

This short video shows how short the throw actually is...
Just start it at the 00:50 mark.

Very cool and from the days when they built a .22 rifle to be more like a rifle than just the cheapest/ starter / youth gun in their lineup..

Also, because it's not a semi-automatic you'll be able to shoot lots of different types of 22 caliber ammo, from 22 shorts, 22 longs, 22 long rifle, 22 birdshot / snake shot and unlike a semi-auto it will cycle the action, and not jam up, as long as you crank it's lever.

                    .
