I have the GovComp model. I recently replaced the standard grips with some Hogue rubber wraparounds as I don't do a lot of one-handed shooting. It's just unbelievably fun to shoot!

Nice! They are nice to shoot, especially with a red dot scope. Here is mine with a very comfortable hogue grips.

I'm considering a Ruger MKIII Hunter in stainless with fluted barrel too.

For those of you that have them do your pistols have the longer or shorter barrel? If you have the longer barrel does that much weight at the front have any negative effect on the balance of the gun?

My mark 3 hunter has been a lemon. Its been to ruger twice they f-ed up the trigger pull the first time, didnt fix it the second and it still jams.. IMO I wouldnt buy another. Very poor finishing on the gun.

So far so good with mine. I've put about 500 rounds of CCI mini mags thru it without any issues. See link below.

I have the same pistol RudyN and really like it. I have probably put over 1000 rounds thru it with only a minor problem easily solved. The front sight would work its way loose after awhile, so I finally put some loctite in there and no more problems.

I have shot different brands of ammo and no problems. I use the green fiber optic as it shows up better for my old eyes. That's the whole reason I bought that particular gun.

In retrospect, I now wish I had bought one of the less expensive, shorter barrel ones and put a red dot scope on it as it is still hard for me to see that little green dot when shooting outside. I know I can put a red dot on this one, but that is just another expense on top of an expensive pistol.

awesome pistol...this is probably the one that i shoot most often when i go to the range. i probably put thru 6 of the bulk 22s from wally world...making it at least 3000 rounds down the pipe. i've yet to clean her properly...just a bore snake and gun scrubber. i love this thing.

Very easy to reassemble. i dont get what the fuss is about. Read the directions online. If you cant get the main spring assembly back in you dont have the sear in the bolt, insert mag, point up, pull trigger, push the sear all the way in, you can use your finger, may have to hold trigger to do, and put the main sping ***. back in and bam. your done. btw i bought mine ten days before sat. picked up on sat. went and shot 100 rds. sunday, 500 rds monday and that was yesterday. got home, took apart, cleaned, (i bought it used and dirty, all i did was cleaned bore before i shot the first time.) and put back together. it took a few tries on my own before i decided to look up der'-ections then had it back together in a snap. I didn't lube when i put back together because i thought it would be hard from what i had read, i wonder if the people saying its hard ever even tried really. so re did it and put a little oil under bolt and on the spring and back in it went no prob. ITS NOT A HARD GUN TO WORK ON. I really like this gun

Hey zman, what kind of red-dot are you running? Sightmark? What kind of groups are you getting and what size dot is it? I pick my hunter up on Monday and I'm currently in the market for a red-dot. Right now the top choice seems to be the Fastfire II.

The name of the red dot escapes me right now. I'll let you know when I get home later. I am not a "grouping" kind of a guy but I do know I can hit a 1'x1' steel plate at ~80 yards with all 10 rounds in the mag with it Oh the sound of hitting steel!

You can't go wrong on the Fastfire though.
