I was shooting an Appleseed event when my savage 64 stop running suddenly. The bolt wouldn't close all the way nor would it open enough to strip a new round from the magazine. When I got home, I disassembled the gun. When I removed the bolt from the receiver it came out in prices rather than a single assembled unit. There is a steel guide rod like part that captures two nested springs and some sort of striker that should be pressed into the back of the bolt. It seems like it was all just held together with friction. Does anyone have any thoughts on repair? It's not worth mailing to savage considering the 160 purchase price and the high cost of mailing guns.

Savage 64 bolt trouble - help needed

From the way it appears to me, just by the diagram, is that all the parts load into the receiver, and are held in by the cocking handle, but would have to see it up close to know for sure. Here's a link to Gun Parts (Numrich) for your rifle. Good luck.
