i'm very new to 22LR and even though i recently picked up a 22/45, i am now itching for a 22 single bolt action wood or synthetic stock rifle.
goal is to eventually participate and join competitions. i did a quick search on NRA's site and even with google had found many varioius competitions for 22LR.
while chatting with a buddy of mine, i've thought about getting one with heavy or bull barrel, figuring that most competition will be benchrest or prone; so i think.
but i also came across some where the competition requires you to take 30 shots at 50 yards (10-prone, 10-standing, 10 kneeling) http://compete.nra.org/how-to-get-st...mpetition.aspx
if standing or kneeling, for sure i'll suck at it if i get a 22LR with heavy barrel.
how about local events? how do they competite? my thought is since i probably won't be travelling to compete, local events will probably be my go to choice. if so, figured i should research the rules and type of competition available first and then decide which type of barrel to get.
