what do guys think of this lil rifle

I"m a big fan of the 17 HMR round I have a savage 93 that is a tack driver and I came across this and was curious what others thought about this "survival" rifle. I could see it being handy for someone who hikes/camps alot.

ugly as all hell but it would make a great survival rifle although i would rather have it in .22lr because chances are you'll have more ammo to choose from, 22 shorts, subsonics, the works. and in a survival situation 17hmr is going to be a lot harder to come by.
Slapping an upper onto a lower is not "building" an AR-15.

What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you illiterate pawns not understand!?

I found it pretty interesting. I'm gettin more and more into hiking and camping into some backwoods areas where hunting is year round for varmits and such. Even a nice lil just in case rifle you can easily carry. Yeah a 17HMR isnt gonna stop big game but a rabbit or squirrel is still a meal. I find 17 ammo still easy to get ahold of and I prefer it over 22.

I have one of these, but chambered in 22wmr. Neat little rifle. Not meant to be deluxe, but the quality is good. Seems to be pretty accurate (haven't played with it too much at this point), comes threaded from the factory for the free states, and is very affordable. 22lr can be shot from the 22wmr version although the manual states not to. It's not super compact when folded, but could easily be slipped into any decent sized backpack. No regrets.

It's almost as ugly as the evolution stocks many people have on Ruger 10/22's and CZ rimfires.

The case and bullet of a 22wmr is larger than 22lr. Its your gun but .22lr ammmo should not be used in a firearm chambered for .22wmr. The reason is obvious as the chamber for .22wmr is much longer than that for a .22lr and shooting .22lr will eventually erode the chamber, cause leading in the barrel and possibly damage the rifiling at the throat of the barrel due to the undersized bullet of the .22lr.

I mistakenly fired .22lr ammo in a revolverl chambered for .22wmr and the barrel was extremely leaded after only 6 shots. I had forgotten to change to the .22lr cylinder after shooting some .22wmr.

Again you can do what you want but for others reading this thread it is unwise to shoot ammo that the firearm is not chambered for.

My preference would be the Henry ar7 because it is mag fed semi auto. Not a lot of choices for .17 hmr though so sound like it suits your needs.
