    Henry AR7

Recently got an AR7. Any opinions on the gun or best ammo to use? I've heard CCI Maximum Mag and Gold Dot Super are both good.

My brother has one, and it has reliably fed, fired and ejected every type of ammunition he has purchased. In researching prior to purchase, we found that the rifle can be somewhat finicky, so I guess he was lucky.

The two types of ammunition you mentioned are .22 magnum loads, the AR7 is chambered in .22 lr.

CCI Minimags in .22 lr are the gold standard of reliable ammo even in picky firearms. I'd give that a try if you can find some.

My AR 7 is rather reliable, will on occasions get a jam here and there. Great little rifles which a lot of fun. As G21S mentioned look for CCI Minimags.

Mine isn't the everyday run of the mill AR7

I have had my ar7 for several years now and love the little truck rifle. I would stick to CCI.

I've put ~300 rounds of bulk-box CCI Blazer through mine. Not a single failure of any kind. It's NOT an accurate rifle, by my standards, but you can take a rabbit at 50 yards pretty easily (if you tagged one at 100 I'd say you were very lucky).

I'll keep it though, since my 7-year old thinks it's the coolest gun I own and wants to shoot it someday.

Polymer barrels that are steal lined are not known for accuracy at a distance pretty much minute of barn with regard to accuracy beyond 50 yards.

                      BroncoBob,

Sweet setup on your AR7. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of the AR7?

I do like the Isriali Pilot Survival Rifle version of the Armalite.

I have a quick attaching scope, bi-pod and four mag holder that goes on the stock.

The magazine is the issue with the AR7. The feed ramp is located on the magazine, not the barrel. The breach is flat so you need to have a good magazine to feed the ammo into the barrel.

As stated don't hold onto the magazine when shooting. Some magazines have the magazine catch slot cut a little low. Which causes FTFeed/jams.

Overall it's a cool little rifle but can be a jam-o-matic.

Mine has been flawless, eats everything. Probably + 1000 out of it, i take it everywhere. I did notice last trip out that there is a small crack forming where the receiver screws into the stock.
