Remington Sportmaster 512 - .22 bolt action rifle.

Hello Fellow Calgunners! I just picked up a Remington Sportmaster 512 - .22 bolt action rifle at the gun show in costa mesa today! I'm super excited about it, and I think I got a pretty good deal at $275 out the door. Anyone else have this same rifle? Please share your experiences/thoughts about this rifle.

    Thanks!

It's one of my top 5 (3?) .22 rifles. Ever.

The tube-feed makes it so much more fun than the 510 or 511.

If the barrel's in good condition, just wait until you shoot it. You're going to think you're missing shots, but they're going through the same hole.

              Amazing accuracy.

If it's all original and in good condition, you got a good deal.

Post pics when you pick it up.

Now you have to get the peep-sight version (512-P).

Awesome! Thanks for the response. Yeah the overall condition is very good, a few handling scratches (which is expected with age) on the stock but a gorgeous patina! The barrel looks to be in excellent shape with pretty much all of it's bluing and as far as what the seller at the gun show told me, it is all original and hasn't been refinished. Yeah iv'e heard it's accurate, can't wait to go out there and shoot it! I'll definitely post some pics when I pick it up and let you know how it shot for me.

Nice find...if you're not busy I'd run some lead cleaner down the bore before taking it to the range, who knows how many lead nosed .22 rounds it's had over the years and how fouled up the rifling may be.

Unfortunately, I sold my Remington 512 at the Great Western Gunshow years ago, and I want it back. It was very accurate. Post a pic, and let me see if it was my old rifle.

Congrats on the 512. From your description, sounds like you got a good deal. You will love the rifle! They are tack drivers. Be sure to post pics.

Here's my 512-X with a spanking new Simmons 4x32 scope.

Oh no, yeah get it back if you can. Crossroads of the West Gun Shows are always in California periodically, hopefully you can find one there like I did or last resort on gunbroker. And I pick up the rifle next week, I will being posting a few pics of it for sure.
