Ruger SR22 Burris Fastfire Red Dot Mount

Managed to use a Springer Glock Fastfire mount and had a gunsmith make a dovetail filler by hand to mount a Fastfire on the Ruger. Works well and the gun shoots well with high velocity ammo. Unfortunately this mount is not commercially manufactured so I made a couple. The two mounting screws act as set screws securing it to the dovetail.

Let us know how that sight holds up to being jarred by the pistol's action. You hear different things about that.

    Nice mounting job.

I have two red dot sights mounted on two of my Mark III pistols but never considered putting them on an SR22. I put a laser on mine.

So far I've put several hundred HV rounds through and it has not loosened. It is really secure in spite of the two piece dove tail. The two screws are more than enough. As you probably know the sight is really light. As usual I went overboard and made two bases when I have one gun. Both are a little different but work well. Having two detached retinas. I prefer red dot sight. The shooting eye sees like a puzzle with a couple pieces gone. heh I'll keep one sell the other and move on to the next project.
The two sight mounting screws go all the way through and apply pressure to the slide so the mount really doesn't go anywhere. If you change battery you need a witness mark on the windage because the mount can slide off on a Fastfire II If you have a top loading battery compartment on a FFIII that's not an issue. j

Nice but why? Mounting anything on a moving slide doesn't make sense... get a buckmark; they work perfect for mounting sights.

Nice install. Red dots are God's gift to aging eyes. Love em.
Mounted one on my Ruger Sp101 .22lr revolver. Had to do the same,
custom mount. Well worth the effort.

Actually I have two and one is for sale in the wanted ads. Hard to come by otherwise.

My thoughts exactly. Very cool but I wonder how it holds up after a few hundred rounds.

Having the sight on a slide is no problem. I have fired hundreds from my GSG1911 with a Fastfire on the slide. Same with the Buckmarks I own. Fine results. I've had two detached retinas and as a result, shooting with irons is no fun. A Red Dot is perfect. I intend to put one on the new Compact GSG 1911 I just got. I will not put one on a SIG Mosquito. That gun now works well and I will not mess with it. If I find a reasonable 22.45 Ruger for sale One will go on that as well.
