    H&R 999

I have had this gun for a long time but have not shot it much because it has a tendency to blow lead out the side. I am not sure of the cause. The cog (on the cly)looks pretty worn, but I have not compared it to any other ones and I am not sure if thats the problem.
Has anyone else had one of these guns and had this problem? I would be interested in hearing from you.
    Thanks

Cool little gun. Yeah I had one of those long ago, and did seem a little dirty when shooting, maybe the cylinder gap is to wide.

like I say it's been a long time 35yrs since I had one of those.

Have timing checked maybe fixable Idk.

    Do I miss it yes...

Just a thought, how is the rotating spur (ejector) look, mine had some wear on it, could contribute to the situation, also Idk.

Three things will cause lead spitting in a revolver, timing, a poor forcing cone, and excessive gap. The cone is fairly easily remedied, the timing, given the age and dearth of parts, makes it a tougher nut. A competent gunsmith can tell you immediately which issue(s) you have. Numrich shows some parts in stock, the cocking lever being one, and one type of cylinder stop. It is worth repairing, although a restoration specialist won't be inexpensive.

I really dig mine, lots of fun. It has begun to spit lead at me to, have to get that fixed. Rear sight screws like to walk to.

Chances are it's the forcing cone. I've had the forcing cones recut on a couple of revolvers. Makes are the difference in the world.
