Ruger mk. II upper on a mk. III lower?

Ello everyone! I've been searching around to find an answer and I think putting the question out there directly might help.

Would a mk. II upper/ receiver fit on a mk. III frame? Or something of the sort, like the Volquartsen one. The standard pistols seem to have a lot of similarities and share many parts, so I'm wondering if it could work.
