4x32 Scope overkill for 25yd indoor range?

I have a Ruger 10/22 and was thinking about picking up one of those cheap Bushnell 4x32 rimfire scopes Walmart sells for $30.00. I'm wondering if this might be overkill though as I mostly shoot indoors within 25 yards? My eyesight is somewhat blurry and red dots do not look very clear to me, and I also have trouble seeing the stock 10/22 sights. Also, at one point had Tech Sights on this rifle and didn't like those either.

That's a good choice for 50 yards and under for casual shooting.

Definitely not overkill. My "good " .22 LR has a Weaver K4 4x38. A large portion of my shooting is done at 25 meters.

For the price the Bushnell ain't bad. If you ever get more serious, though, you may want to look for a parallax-adjustable scope. Parallax on a typical rimfire scope is set to 50m and it will mess with you a little at 25m if your head position isn't perfect. (I want my rifle to tell me when my head isn't perfect... but were I competing I'd use a different scope.)

Cool, thank for the help guys. I just didn't want to look like a wanna be sniper with a big scope shooting 25 yards. I'm going to go ahead and pick up the Bushnell and since it's Walmart I can always return it if it's not too my liking.

I don't think it's overkill. I use a 8-32x44 at 50 yds and love it. I kill an occasional fly if it stays too long.

With blurry vision you may want to consider the Simmons 22 Mag scope.

It's a 4X with the advantage of a quick twist adjustable focus.

I bought one at Turners and the focus is the best part. It works great at 25 yards and more.

A 10-22 with some trigger work can be a real nice tac driver. Consider what you spent for the gun and spend the same on optics and you will never have regrets.

4 power ain't overkill for 25 yards. Your groups will probably tighten up some over shooting irons.

Now, a 5-12 would be over power for an indoor range!

No shame in needing a scope. My eyes just turned 50 and I'm still sorta kinda occasionally OK with iron sights at 100 yards but the scope lets me do better.
Nikon should always be considered too.

7 different 22 rifles, lowest magnification scope I own is a 4-16x. You minght consider going with a 3-9x in case you decide to shoot longer distances later on. Also you may be very disappointed by a $30 scope, not much quality goes into those at that price point and they tend to fail over time, some in a very short time. Lots of plastic gears and lenses in those scopes.

Thanks everyone I made the decision to buy a scope based on your opinions. I ended up buying a Simmons 3x9 32mm MAG riflescope from Turners. This scope seems clearer than the Bushnell I almost bought at first and am happy with my choice. Also, Simmons is running a $30.00 mail in rebate if you spend $49.95 or more, so after that discount the scope will only cost me about $20.00 bucks what a deal.

Too late now but a scope with short distance parallax adjustment is best. Some airgun scopes fit the bill. We would use 16X for 50 foot indoor shooting, not a very big field of view but you got a good look at the target.

When doing a test and review on a .22 RF, I use a Mueller 8.5-25.
