GSG-mp40 CA legal?

Iv'e always liked the Mp-40 submachine gun and am interested in the GSG 22lr version of this gun. Does anyone know if it's ca legal? If not can it be bought as a sse?

Is it a pistol? If so, then yes you can get it via sse. If its a rifle, no sse is needed.

ATI currently imports the GSG MP40-22 Rifle, which is CA legal with 10 round magazines.

ATI has plans to import the GSG MP40-22 Pistol, but there is no ETA on when that will happen.

In order to be CA legal, the GSG MP40-22 Pistol will need a maglock + 10 round magazine.

Because of the change to the single-shot pistol exemption, starting 01-01-2015, the GSG MP40-22 will need to be acquired through another exempt method (LEO sale, out-of-state intra-familial gift, PPT).

Ok, cool thanks guys. My only complaint is the version with the fake suppressor.. this looks really weird on a gun that came from the ww2 era imo. I know one of the versions has a fixed shoulder stock instead of the suppressor and would prefer this version.

The underfolding stock is not the issue. It's the required 16" barrel length.
(The underfolding stock is even CA legal. With the stock folded, the rifle's overall length is 29.7")

The fake suppressor is on all imported GSG MP40-22 Rifle.
Federal laws mandates a minimum 16" barrel length.

GSG incorporates the fake suppressor to hide the 16.3" barrel.
You can remove the fake suppressor and it will look like this.
