    Kimber 82

I have an opportunity to purchase a Kimber Model 82 (not the CMP). It has only a couple of small nicks in the stock (hardly noticeable). Comes with 3 (4) round mags and 3 (10) round mags and has a 22" barrel and metal butt plate. It also comes with scope rings. I'd be buying it from the original owner. He's asking $975, but the extra mags alone are worth several hundred dollars or more (I found only a couple online, but they are pricey. Seems more people are looking for the mags than what's available).

From what I've read about the Kimber 82, it appears to be a somewhat rare but high quality bolt action .22. I'd like to know if anyone has any first hand experience with this rifle. This one has been well cared for.

        Kimber

You have great taste in guns. I use to have a Oregon 82 and I think it took Remington mags. It would be worth checking into. For the money though I would look at cooper for a .22. Why I was younger I had a LVT that I could shot 12 gauge shell and 308 cases at 100 yards, and **** the flies at 50 yards.

For the money the Ruger vbz beats the Kimber. Plus the mags are cheap easy to find and more realiable. I have one with a zeiss 4x scope that I purchased 20 years ago. It's taken scores of ground squirrels, several rock chucks (one out to 160 yards on the range finder) also a beautiful badger that hangs on my uncles wall that was shot right in the eye right where I was aiming and did not put a single bullet hole in the pelt. The Kimber is beautiful and fits to the hand well but if it has any problems down the road your going to pay big bucks for rare parts and wait God knows how long for them to arrive.
