Is it a Stoeger? If so I don't believe there is a list any where.

Yes it's a Stoeger. A gunsmith said that the "CL" stamped in the metal is when it is made but he couldn't find it in a serial number book. Any ideas?

Can you stick a magnet on the receiver? They used two types of material to make the receiver early non magnetic late magnetic.

aluminum was 69-80 then till 85 i think then navy arms took over the design and made them till like 90

i remember buing a spare mag from navy arms

It's solid steel. With a serial number CL 2---. It that fairly new?

The .22 cal. Stoeger Luger was introduced in 1969 and was discontinued in 1985. When production began, an aluminum receiver was used. Beginning in 1980 a production change using a steel receiver began. So, if a magnet doesn't stick to the receiver, the pistol is 1969-1979 production, if it does, it is 1980-1985 production."

If your Luger has a steel frame, it's likely the late production one. Most of the photographs of the .22 Luger I saw on the net didn't have a letter prefix to the serial number. You may have a late production Pistol.
