Marlin 39A

Thought I would show off my newest Marlin.

Made in 1950 and is in pretty nice shape. I just added the Marbles Peep Sight today. I put a delete blank in place of the original rear barrel sight. Eyes are getting old so a Peep is beneficial to me. I am going to put a rear fold down sight in place of the delete filler when I can afford one.

I will of course keep all the original stuff stored safely.

I really did not "need" another, but I could not let this Baby sit at the Garage sale for the price they were asking. 350.00. I also really like the older Marlins with the Ballard Rifling yet.

Hate it when people tempt me with Low Priced Marlins

Yeah, this one is likely worth up in the 700.00+ range. That is why I just could not resist. Had to even borrow a little from my Brother to get it. Good thing it was still there when I got back. He would not budge off the 350.00. I tried twice

39A prices have really skyrocketed.

Nice. I picked up a 39M last year. Fun rifle.

Mine wasn't as clean (some marks on stock) and cost a bit more, but........

Post a pic. I would like to see the 39M. Is it a mountie by chance?

The M does not always designate such, but some Mounties were 39Ms if I am not mistaken.. But it could be a Mountie. Does it have the straight grip and 20 inch barrel?

Barrels were not always marked "Mountie" either.

Straight grip, short barrel. TMK they are all Mounties/M's, just Marlin wasn't consistent with the inscription. Early 60's mfg.

Good deal. The Mounties are rarer and would command a higher price. I would like to have one if it was in my budget..
