    17 HM2 is confirmed dead ?

I can see re-stocking of all hard-to-find ammo, but no sight of the HM2 rounds.

Is there something about this round that I don't know ? Hornady unplugged it ?

Eley and CCI were the only factories making it back in the good ol days. Eley stopped production like 5 years ago, and CCI does small batches. Its very tough to find and getting stupid expensive. Shame too since it was a neat little round.

Hornady still makes it, it's made in small batches and sells fast.

The HM2 price should be half of HMR, but I've seen some tiny lots on GB or forums asking prices of WMR range. I think it's hilarious.

I grab it whenever I see it, but that is getting less and less often.
It is a great little round though, quite fun.

I emailed Hornady around March, their reply was that they were focusing production on only the most popular rounds. They said they did not have plans to discontinue the 17HM2, but production would be delayed.
I assume since the round is a rimfire that it would be run on much of the same equipent as 22LR?
Hope that 22 availability eases and they can get some in production. I am going to email them again, maybe if everyone who shoots it can give them nudge they will start producing it.

BTW the hornady labeled 17HM2 is actually made by CCI.

Being that Hornady does not produce .22 lr, I assume 17 HM2 would be made on the same machines as their 17 HMR.

There seems to be no shortage of 17 HMR on the market now so they should br back to producing HM2 soon.

I've noticed Midway has 17 Aguila in stock, is this compatible with HM2 guns or a completely different cartridge?

I guess HM2 is not on the high priority list at CCI, and looking at the current availability of CCI 22LR ammo, my CZ HM2 baby is going to be starved for a while.

Some guys shoot the 17 Aguila in their 17HM2's. Some of them report case splits, seems like it depends on how your particular chamber was cut. Dunno if I would try it in mine but in a pinch it might be fun.

Even if we can use 17 Aguila on HM2 chamber, it has to be as accurate as the hm2 rounds. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of the HM2. I'd rather take my humble and dependable 22lr to the range.

                          You can shoot .17 PMC/Aguila in a 17 HM2.

UN Ammo has some .17 PMC in stock: http://www.unammo.com/#Rifle
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                          Come on...what harm??

I think 41 Magnum is a lot more accessible than the HM2.. I was able to pick up brass from Starline last year.. and for not an exorbitant price.. Pair that with a couple of bullet molds and I'll be loading for it for a very long time.

I live about 50 miles from Hornady. I heard they are actually going to open a rimfire Plant here. Rumor or not I am unsure.
