    New Remington 40X B

Picked up a "US" marked Remington 40XB today from my transfer FFL that I won at an auction. Stock is a little beat up, but appears solid.

      Thanks, Steve

The rifle didn't come with sights, but I have a set that should work.

        I love mine!

Your metal looks a lot better than your wood. Much of that might steam out though. I've seen some spare XB stocks for sale on e-bay.

I'd offer you my spare stock but it's for a 722 based 40X.

I wonder why that sight base is on the rear receiver ring. Both my rimfire 40X and centerfire 40XB have three short scope blocks similar to the other two on your rifle.

Front sight, mid-barrel and front receiver ring.

        Hmmm...

Nice OP. I got a handful of them from the CMP when they still had them to sell. All I put through them is Wolf Match Target or the SK equivalent. They are fun accurate rifles that are a blast to shoot.

Thanks, Sheldon. I plan on doing something about the stock.

I got a pretty good deal on it, although not as good as the CMP price.

            Have you scoped yours?

Not sure about the sight base on the rear receiver ring.

I only scoped one of them, the rest of them I have the Redfield irons....either the Palmas or the Internationals. The scoped one has an adjustable stock and I find I do like a slightly shorter than stock length of pull.

I think I got a pretty nice replacement stock from Numrich........took minimal steaming up of dents and looks really nice....almost too nice for my use. I just know I'm gonna ding it all up again!!

I have the HB and the LB versions. Did some prone shooting with the HB. Too heavy for that. haha. Scoped both of them since for some BR shooting.
