    Winchester 94/22

I have a buddy who has a few guns he wants to sell. One of them in a 94/22. I have only seen pictures of it. I know the older pre 1964 model 94/30-30 are the ones to look for, does this true for the 94/22's as well.

    Thanks

Any older Winchester has more value than the newer ones, but condition is everything...

jyo, thank you for the reply but I'm not sure that answers my question

Some of those post 1964 94's were pretty bad, I don't know if I would compare them to a new 94.

I assume you are talking the rimfire Lever Guns.

I do not think there are any pre 64 9422s. They were made from around the early 70s to the 2000s. They bring good money today.Depending on the Model. Around 700.00 and up..

They also made a 9422M in .22 Mag. I would buy it if the price is right, even though I am a Marlin guy

I hate to see this gun sitting in a duffel bag in the corner of a closet like it has for the last 20 years. He has a Ruger .357 Blackhawk that's got to be from the 70's. He said 800.00 for both so I might jump on it.

Yes I would grab them both for that price in a heartbeat. Great Deal.

You could keep one and sell the other and get one for Free

That's a good "we're friends" price if condistion is nice. Figure any Ruger SA is going to run $350.00 or so, even if it's the transfer bar type. The Winchester 94/22 would be about $600.00 or so.

Bought new around the 70's they probably totaled about $400.00, or under?

+1 - your friend is giving you a good deal.

It took me most of a year to find a nice 94/22 at less than $650. It is very hard to pry them out of people's safes, unless you give them a lot of money for them.

Is your friend's gun a regular 94/22 or one of those fancy XTR's with the high finish fancy wood and checkering?

I remember going into J.C. Penny's as a boy, accompanying my big brother as he bought his 94/22. That was 1978 or so, and IIRC it was about $179 new.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I have a 9422 that was an 8th grade graduation gift from my dad.
It shoots as straight as the day I got it and will pass it on to one of my sons.
Not for sale so don't ask.
Still nice to know current market value.
