    Western Field

Ok guys, some info would help me out here, I have a western field .22 rifle in fair condition, from what I understand it was built for montgomery ward's.
Does anyone have some info on this? The safety seems to be frozen but the rest of it works, like the bolt, etc. I think it's a really neat little rifle.
    Pics to come....
Says .22 short, .22long, .22LR only as automatic.
    Pretty interesting

    Thanks for the info

Any other info on gun? Model number, name, etc?
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

Here is what Wards crosses over to. If yours is an 850, you are in luck, lots of parts available. Not much for the others at Numrich.

The thing is really nice considering it was in a friends garage in blanket for a "very long" time according to him.
I lubed it up a bit and everything seems to work.
I now need to clean the crap out of it and try it out.

It looks like the Stevens 87A (gill gun) I got from my Dad. Neat little gun, although mine isn't very accurate. If using shorts and longs you can push the charging handle in to make it a single shot, or pull it out for longrifle and it is semi auto.

looks like my Sears Ranger made by Savage/Stevens/Springfield.

Like Joe47 said they call them Gill guns or Clackity Clacks.

                      they're fun to shoot
