    10/22 Takedown firing without barrel?

    I searched everywhere and i haven't had a chance to try it out yet... Can the 10/22 takedown fire without the barrel portion attached?? Thank you.

          Yes. Cannot chamber a round. It would probably be a legal issue if you could chamber and fire without attaching the long barrel.

            Without a barrel you could not fire it.

            And yes, if you could it would be a illegal firearm..

                No, there is nothing for the bullet to chamber into. If you try to load a round,
                (with the barrel off) it will just fall out the front of the gun.

                    If you are interested in a rifle that can fire in a short configuration, look at the Henry Survival Rifle, AKA the AR-7. It will fire just fine if you assemble just the receiver and barrel, leaving the stock/container off.......probably illegal to fire in that configuration though
