    Beretta 87 Target

I've been interested in one of these for awhile. Thought about it too long last year when a nice used one sat on the shelf at my local ffl. It went and I've been looking since. Still on the doj's list though Beretta has no more and are no longer producing, so I'm on the hunt.
Anyone have any experience with one? Are they as nice as I've been told? And are they worthy of the $750 to $900 they seem to go for?
Appreciate any comments on practical experience with the type.

If you sign up on gunbroker.com you can review finalized auctions, which will give you a good idea of the firearm's fair market value. There is one for sale on that site, with 15 bids, ending in 8 days, at a current price of $825.

I like mine. It's based on a compact combat frame, so it has "real" controls but a small grip. If you've got large hands it won't be comfortable. The sights are good, and the top rail very nice for mounting optics. With a scope it looks like something Han Solo would own. Mine is settled down into a reliable pistol, but it took some break in. I think it was designed for subsonic target ammunition, so it's a bit undersprung for standard supersonic stuff and tended to open a bit early. Occasionally I'd get some burning powder on my trigger finger, so I added a spacer to the recoil rod to precompress the recoil spring about 1/4 inch. Works well. The trigger is decent, but not impressive. Overall, I like it, but for the money my eye keeps wandering over towards the S&W 41.

We had one for use with a suppressor, they are awesome little guns, unfortunately Beretta is not making them or importing them anymore. Buy one on gunbroker while you can, they are on the safe handgun list.

If you can find an 89 Garand1911 is correct. I have the 89 and the 70s target. If you like the 92fs feel the 87

The 87T is my favorite out of the 10 so or rimfires I own. Especially after upgrading it with the 89 trigger parts which virtually elimated all trigger creep. The wood grips are beautiful however the stock polymer grips make the gun feel much thinner and easier grip for smaller hands. It is fun to shoot, is robust, well made with a fit and finish that's second to none....and the look of the gun is simply fabulous.
