    New 22lr products

Have you guys seen these? I'm taking it we can't own these in California for whatever stupid law lol

    But they seem interesting.

    USAF ZIP

    Baikal MP-161K Carbine

I don’t think the Baikal MP-161K is a new gun but I don’t recall seeing it before. This semi-automatic Russian rifle comes chambered in .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR.It has windage adjustable open sights and a weaver rail for optics.

Do you guys know of any other interesting 22lr products?

Early indications are that these news Zips are pretty craptacular. Check out some of the reviews on YouTube.

As an instructor, I am very concerned about any firearm where the charging handle (or any other operating control) is so close to the muzzle.

Haven't seen one and not interested. Wish they'd go back to making SAA revolvers, but I guess the market just isn't there.

The Baikal, on the other hand, looks useful and entertaining, even though there are many excellent rimfires already to choose from.

I believe the original purpose for the Zip (dumb name) was to be mounted underneath the rail of a AR style / m4 rifles to simulate the smoke/grenade launcher tubes that we obviously can not have in california & not really to be meant to be used by itself.
as you can see there are not even sights on it.

The Baikal looks futuristic but I think it is probably just a plastic case screwed together.. sandwich style, like people do with airsoft guns to make your 10/22 look like World War 2 firearms.
it also looks like the sight radius/distance between the front and the rear is a lot shorter than it could be.
          that said,
I would test either one out if they would give me one for free.
          :-)

            .
I agree rocketman, I saw a video of this device and it was crazy on how they were using the charging handle. Id rather spend my money on a Papoose

I threw these up here to have people talk about these applications. The Baikal does look pretty interesting, however Im sure its going to be heavier than a traditional Marlin 795/60 or a 10/22.

Weight is not necessarily a problem, depending on what you want to do with it. My boltie .22LR is heavy on purpose, as it approximates the size and weight of my battle rifles...

As for the "plastic" Baikal, I'm not a big fan of fancy clamshell bodies myself but it may have some good uses. If you shoot standing NRA high-power style, the stock appears to give a pretty good support hand magwell grip. Also the stock looks easily adjustable for cheek weld, maybe length of pull and palm swell too. That's pretty nice.

Next weekend in Mariposa. Weekend after that (Sep 20-21), shoots in Sacramento, Burro Canyon (Azusa), Wes Thompson (Piru), and Raahague's (Corona). Sign up here. Still room at all of them.

Someone on here has a zip gun. I don't recall the review being 100% positive.
