Backorders for high volume, high demand items with low availability and extremely long lead times (a year?) are a major PITA to manage. Credit cards expire, people move, they forget they have an order, they no longer want it etc.

That said, they shouldn't accept backorders for items they can't determine when they might receive it .. and they seem to do that. I've looked at several things that they wouldn't accept backorders for, for long times.

Also, multiple items on and order can delays things if anything is backordered. Plus their policy says they cancel all backorders over 1 year old.

    Here's their policy statement:

    What is your Backorder Policy?
We do everything possible to get your backorders out as quickly as possible while minimizing shipping costs.

When you only have one product on backorder, we ship it out as soon as it’s received. When you backorder multiple products on a single invoice, we hold all of those products so they ship together. Once any backordered product has been in our warehouse for 90 days, we automatically ship that product to you, as well as any of your other backordered products in stock at that time. All backorders ship via the most economical shipping method possible.

Backorders open longer than 365 days will be cancelled.

Midway is actually not doing well financially from what I've seen. They have been laying people off all year.

Midway USA IS honoring backorders, I have received quite a few backordered .22 lr items from them over the past two years. Every time they get a shipment of .22 lr in a percentage goes to the list of backorders and a percentage gets listed on their website for immediate sale.

While its not fair for those already waiting in line for the ammo, its fairer for their other customers. Midway can choose to do this if they want, its their policy.

People just need to take a deep breath, the .22 shortage will be eventually over and there should be a period of time those caught with their pants down can really stock up.

I've had a mixed bag from MidwayUSA. Some backorders were cancelled, but I've also received others ordered many moons ago.

I was surprised to get emails that my backorders have arrived and will be shipping shortly. It had been so long I'd completely forgotten about it .

It's like watching grass grow; maybe it's best to just place the order and move on to more interesting things.

I believe that law failed to pass. We are good for at least another year.

I've been a Midway Customer since 1990, and I've always shopped with them or Brownells. However, recently I've been diappointed with Midway. I know the that the .22LR shortage has been hard on everyone, and it isn't Midway's fault, not is it their job to make the make the ammo. They can only sell what they get in stock, and they are usually fast and fair in all dealings I've had with them. But, recently, I've experienced an issue that is confusing to me, and it appears out-of-character for Midway. With that said, here goes: Last year, Midway was allowing backorders on .22 rimfire. However, they quickly stopped allowing backorders on .22. The terms were that you have to make sure your credit card is up to date, etc., until they actually complete your order. All seems fair. During this brief window of opportunity, I backordered various types of .22LR, including CCI Mini-mags in both 36 and 40 grain. They had limits on the amounts you could backorder, and truthfully, I maxed out limits on Mini-Mags, stingers, and some cheaper flavors too. I didn't over-do it, but I picked about 10 different flavors. I wanted whatever I cold get, and believed that a good mix of low-cost and higher-end might result in "something". Like most of you, I also use the "notify me" when back in stock feature that Midway allows for .22LR, and other items. Like most of you, I continue to get Midway email alerts that the .22 ammo I'm interested in is "back in stock". And again, like most of you, the .22 is sold out as soon as I hit the link. Today (09/04/14) I received another Midway email, stating that the Mini-Mags (both 36 and 40 gain) were back "in-stock". I went to the site, and actually managed to placed an order for 500 of the 36 gain, but the 40 grain were sold out. (I have not yet received order-confirmation from Midway). So here's my issue: my backorders for the Mini-Mags are still listed on my account! So, simply said, it appears to me that Midway is not honoring the backorders? It could be that they are shipping "some" backorders, and also offering "some".22LR to "non-backorders?" I've asked Midway about this in the past, and received a general response that they doing their best to fill back orders, etc., but they have not responded to the specifics of my questions. Considering that California "might" ban the internet purchase of ammo, has Midway lost interest in my account? Thanks in advance for any constructive comments.
