Where can I find a Crickett?

Anybody know where they sell the Crickett youth rifle in the SoCal area. (Specificaly Antelope Valley/Santa Clarita/SFV)
Also, what's the going rate for these?
I see them online for $105-$119 but I'm sure they're gonna be more at the LGS.
    Thanks!

I know this isn't exactly local for you but I remember seeing one in the Turners of Pasadena I believe. But your best bet is probably gunbroker.

Last one I have encountered was at a Walmart. It was a pink one though.

Nice little rifles for the kids. I still have the one my kids learned to shoot on. Has the simulated wood stock and I think it was under 80.00 back then.

One thing is they are really hard to load. Especially for larger hands. Even my kids had a hard time getting one in the chamber sometimes..

The pink one would be perfect! My princess must have pink.
If you don't need yours anymore, I'll take it off your hands.

I never thought about loading issues. I'll try loading some snap caps if I can find one in stock nearby.

I bought one for my 3 year old daughter, pink laminated stock. The peep sight that comes on it, with the sheet metal peep and plastic front leaves a LOT to be desired. But you can buy a Williams firesight online from Keystone (who makes the cricket). I bought one, and since my daughter is still too small to reach the trigger with her hand around the grip, I decided that daddy had to 'test it out' for her. My oh my! What a fun, accurate little rifle. I put over 200 rounds through it in a couple hours plinking in the woods. After a bit, loading becomes pretty quick, even for a 6'4" guy like me with proportionate hands.

While my girl is still too small to shoot it, I showed her how to load it, and close the bolt, then hand it to daddy so I can cock it and shoot it. We shoot Colibris off the deck of the cabin. She loves it, and I can't wait until she's a little bigger so she can handle it.

Loading is a bit awkward at first, but practice makes perfect, and after 20 rounds or so, its second nature to get the nose of the cartridge poked into the chamber.

As the one guy said. Loading it does get easier with a little practice.

I will likely never sell ours. Though it has not been shot in probably 12 years. I will keep it and one of the kids can pass it down to their kids. It was my two older kids first rifle (Daughter and Son), so it has some sentimental value well beyond what I would ever be able to sell it for..

Hope you find one sooner than later..

By the way, ours has the synthetic wood stock, not the pink.

In 2009, I bought my daughter the version with the stainless steel receiver and barrel with a pink stock. I believe I paid about $170 for it. I bought some orange colored plastic snap caps from Dillons and use them to have her practice safe gun handling at home. The rifle has served its purpose; my daughter is safe in all aspects of handling the firearm. It is an excellent rifle except for the cheap rear sight. I took off the cheap rear sight and installed a 1.5 power Leupold scope on it. The scope mount was around $20.00. With that scope I can consistently hit shotgun shell hulls at 50 yards.

I am in the process of building my daughter a 10-22 and will see if she wants to part with the rifle. We are going shooting this weekend with her rifle.

I don't even have any kids and I bought a Mossberg Plinkster a few years ago. They are handy to have on hand when you find yourself working with (other people's) little kids.

Look into the Savage Rascal. It's a far better designed rifle. It's <2.5 lbs, cocks on bolt close, has a real safety, a feed ramp and an accutrigger. They even make it in pink.

My 8 year old loves his. Bought it at Big 5.

Teaching a child the fundamentals of shooting and gun safety is best kept simple. Many of today’s top shooters cut their teeth as a young child on a single shot .22 bolt action. And if you ask any of them, “would you have preferred something cooler, with more shots” they will answer you in the negative. When you have only one shot at a time to concentrate on, you shoot one shot at a time, and you concentrate. That makes for great shooters, and that is why Savage brought this nifty little single shot rifle called the Rascal, to market. We first saw this gun at Media Day at the Range the day before SHOT Show 2012, and now we finally got a chance to really shoot one. Nice little gun! And at an MSRP of $174, just about anyone can teach their child or grandchild the fundamentals of good shooting for pennies a round.

I ordered one last week from Turners - West Covina. $170 for the pink laminate + blued version and $190 for the pink laminate + stainless. I got the latter. Took like 3 days for it to come in to begin DROS.
