I took my MkIII Hunter to the range the other week with my new Burris Fastfire RDS. When I zeroed the red dot I found I had to make extreme adjustments to it. Looking closely I found that the Burris didn't sit flush on the weaver rail that Ruger supplied with the pistol.

I called Ruger and they said they couldn't do anything about it and Burris said that there is no standard to a Weaver rail so that's probably why it didn't fit flush.
In order to fix this problem I used the following.
- Cordless drill
- 13/64" drill bit
- 220 grit sandpaper
I know there's better tools for this job but i wanted to keep it simple. I carefully held the rail and turned the drill to full speed, being careful to not get nicked by the bit. Gloves are highly recommended for this. Continue working the bit to the desired depth you need.

Once you take off enough material clean up the edges with some 220 grit sandpaper and wash off the dust.

Here's the end result. The red dot now sits flush on the rail and does not rock around.

Here's a comparison of the new reamed slot vs. original. I know it's not perfect but it works!

End result..

Total time invested: 15 mins
Cost: Free!
