H&R 686 22LR revolver value

Hi,

I saw a H&R 686 22LR revolver at my LGS in consignment for $200. It doesn't have box, it comes with only 22LR cylinder, adjustable sights, and its atleast 6.5" barrel long. Its in very nice condition and the lock up is also tight.

Is it worth $200 and how does it compare to Ruger single six and Heritage rough rider 22LR? I was planning to get a Rough rider for $130, do you think its better to get a HR 686 for $200?

Yeah, it's worth $200. Yeah, I'd get the H&R over the Heritage. It's also DA/SA if that matters to you.

Depends on your definition of 'better'.

The Ruger is a classic. Top quality components and finish. But you won't find a nice one for $200. It's also SA only.

The H&R is all-steel, well made, accurate and depending on your taste, either butt-ugly or beautiful. The case colored frame is cool. And it's DA/SA. If you can find a 22mag cylinder, you'll have a convertible too. And it's $200. You can get 2 for the price of a nice Single-Six.

The Heritage is a nice gun, but it's designed to be cheap. Alloy parts, no precision finishing, etc. I have one and I like it, but it's no Ruger or H&R.

I have all 3 and like them all for different reasons.

Cool. Good choice.

Consignment guns are negotiable, so offer the owner $175 and see it they take it. The gun store will contact the owner for you. But buy it for $200 if they don't. Don't tell the store that though....lol.
