    B&C Defect or Normal?

Just got this stock from stockysstocks for my 10/22 and was wondering if this is normal or does it need to be exchanged. I called them and they said its normal and to sand it down.

The material mushrooms up and Im not too sure if it allows the receiver to sit flush or if it elevates a little bit.

Would a Volquartsen bedding kit fix it or do I try and get a new stock from stockys or B&C?

I just expected better quality for a $200 Bell & Carlson stock

Paging Randell. You may want to link this in the gunsmithing
section for guys who do builds and frequent stock exchanges..

Were those spots like that on arrival or did they come up with use??

It was like that when it arrived. I installed the receiver to see how it fits but never install the take down screw to seat the receiver in place.

They come pretty rough in spots. I bought one , and the buffer at the rear of the receiver is visible on one side, the left. This was a common issue documented over at Rim Fire Central. I also have one for my Ruger 77 in .300 Win Mag that is just as rough. A bit of a disappointment for the money. Here is a link to a new stock being touted over at RFC.

Hello Rimfire Friends- We are looking at an AUGUST 14th launch date for our newest product, the TITAN 1022 - Designed for optically mounted precision 1022 rifles. A must for anyone who is serious about shooting precision 1022s. Finally a MAN SIZED 1022 STOCK!! Stats: Made for the Ruger...

I just so happen to have one sitting on my couch right next to me... don't ask.

IIRC the receiver does not rest on the screw, but it will push it up. I just knocked mine out & ended up taking a small piece of the stock with it.

if it were a center-fire rifle I might be concerned but not for a 10/22, mine would still shoot one hole groups at 50 assuming that I did my part & used the right ammo.

if it bothers you, you can always bed the action but I really don't think that it is necessary.
