Marlin Glenfield model 20 magazine problems

I was out shooting the other day and I was having feeding issues. my dad gave my this rifle awhile back and It needed some work on the bolt. so I fixed it all up and finally took it out. when I went to chamber a round. it (not all the time) would either miss the round or jam the round halfway in bending the casing. I had to hold the magazine in the same way I would hold the forend of the rifle to feed properly. any help would be appreciated. the magazine needs to seat higher I think.

Have you taken it out of the stock?

You can tweak the magazine catch ( it is connected to the receiver under the stock) .

Trial and error works , and a little goes a long way, bend ever so little at a time.

you will need to try the mag out with the action in the stock each time you tweak it.
