    July Rimfire Match

    Congratulation to the June winners!

    25-yard rifle (aperture): 190 Cujo, 169 MrRabbit.
    50-yard rifle (aperture): 105 Cujo, 98 MrRabbit.

    15-yard pistol (offhand): 98 Shakyshoot, 93 Badpolizei.
    15-yard pistol (benched): 104 MrRabbit.

    25-yard pistol (benched): 101 MrRabbit.
    25-yard pistol (offhand): 97 Shakyshoot, 86 MrRabbit.

There were only four shooters for last months (June) event. PeteRabbits did a fine job of organizing the event. Now that school is out and people are busy for the summer, let's go ahead and move the same rules and targets that we had last month (June) and carry them over for the July 2014 match.

Rules and targets are posted here:

Good luck to all of the participants!

Here's my entry for 50 yard scoped:

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Which category would unmagnified reddots go into?
I support peace through superior firepower.

This is per Peterabbits post last month. Hope this helps:

          See below in bold.

Same for 25 yds? Yes. See above.
In other words do iron sights compete against scopes? Yes, but only non-magnified scopes.
If not then a full 15yd Pistol match would consist of 4 targets?
          1. 15 yd benched irons sights
          2. 15 yd benched scopes
          3. 15 yd offhand irons sights
          4. 15 yd offhand scopes

          Repeat for 25 yds.

Also does Red dot include lasers ? No, lasers do not count as red dot sights.

(I'm not dim - just too much shooting with provided cotton "ear protection" - The old days.

Ok, that wasn't very helpful. From the linked thread in post #1:

Picked up another .22 rifle yesterday, one I have wanted for a long time

I couldn't get any work done today thinking about this darn rifle, so I had to make a run to the range to try it out.

Here is my posting for this month's 50 Yards Aperture Sights class:

Guess that A-word rifle can print some nice groups afterall.

                          Cujo,

I noticed a difference between my targets and yours, which I believe is due to a setting in the print options. When I print on my HP, there is a setting where you can choose to print "actual size" and another for "100%". Both of those settings print targets like mine where the wording in the corners falls partially outside the margins of the print area. On your targets, I think you may be choosing "Fit" which shrinks the page down to where all the writing is inside the margins. The bottom line is I think your targets are coming out smaller than mine. Can you check your print settings and let me know which setting you use?

If I am printing my targets incorrectly, please let me know. I want to make sure I am shooting at the correct size targets and not having an unfair advantage here.

                          FB

EDIT: I attached a screenshot of my print options showing what I am selecting.

                            Brian,

I just saw your last post right now and I'll check my printer settings tomorrow. I believe your settings are the correct ones. The bad part (for me) is that I usually print one copy and run down to Office Depot and print 20 of them at a time! I keep a bunch in a folder that I take to the range and pass them out.

I wondered about this myself, since in my 15 yd targets, the bottom of the 2nd 5 ring gets cut off, even though there's plenty of paper below it. I print mine through HP with the same 100% setting you're using. I tried comparing the proportions of mine with the original file opened in Abobe. I even went so far as to use a 1/32" marked ruler and calculated the proportions. It looks to me like your targets and my targets are the same proportions as the original, and Cujo's and some others are smaller. Notice that in the original the white band at the top, above the bull is narrower than the width of the 5 ring. In Cujo's, it's quite a bit wider. At any rate, the 5 ring on my 15 yd pistol targets (50 yd rifle) is exactly 5" in diameter.
