    CZ American vs. Ruger American?

What do you all think of the CZ 452/455 and/or Ruger American? Specifically in regards to accuracy.

I don't have a Ruger American but I have a CZ 452 American that shoots pretty good.

But the CZ455 Varmint shoots just as good, if not a little better.

Those are nice groups. Does your CZ prefer any particular brand of ammo?

When I was shooting the American frequently I did better with Wolf MT. I haven't tried it with Eley Match but the Varmint really likes Eley Match better than SK Std +. At the present time I am having trouble finding quality 22lr ammo.

I bought/traded for quality 22lr ammo first. Now I have a CZ 452 in jail until the 6th. Can't wait. I have a lot of SK Std +, CCI SV, Eley Match. Looking to trade some MMags for SV or SK Std +.

I don't think this is even a comparison. CZ hands down, in fact I would never even consider the American over all else offered. All one needs to do is look at, handle and take down/separate action from stock of a Ruger American and you'll know to pass on it versus others. IMO

We have a CZ consensus, haha. That groupings pic & the unanimous recommendations towards the CZ has sealed the deal. Thanks all.

Cz's are super nice. For a rimfire the RAR is kinda expensive for what it is, but I wouldn't mind one in a bigger calibre for hunting n stuff.

I like CZs and have just as many of them as I do Rugers. I'd go with the CZ for a few reasons -

CZs always shoot well. With Ruger there's often some sort of "variable" to worry about that can effect accuracy - the two piece bolt of the 77 rimfires, the way the receiver and bottom metal of the 77/44 & 96/44 anchor, the forend hanger on the No1, the Mini ......

Also, CZ hasn't "economized" on their finish like Ruger has for the past 10 years or so. All nicely made "blued steel and wood".

I'm somewhat surprised that the question was even asked.

Haha, I was hoping to "go cheap" while still keeping a comparable level of accuracy. I've had my eyes on a CZ for a while now, though. Now to actually find one in stock.

CZ 452s are going to be hard to find, I bought mine right when the 455 was announced because I knew they'd start to become scarce. Either is a great gun, but I like old more than new.

In any case, here's a link to an in stock 455 American in stock right now: http://www.damascusgunshop.com/shop/...can-22-lr.html

I bought a couple of times from this shop, they're the best. Only gripe is long guns ship parcel post, where tracking is crap and you can get your rifle anywhere from 1 week to 1 month from ship date.

The last time I checked the website for oc firearms, they had a number of cz 455s in stock. Not sure where op is located, oc firearms is an awesome shop.

I love my 455, and it's modular aspects compared to the 452. But I'm sure both are very fine rifles. My 455 has an amazing trigger that makes me shoot much better. It's adjustable and a cheap spring from the hardware store makes the trigger almost pull itself...
